Hello Rob, Thank you for posting and sorry for reply delay! According to the error message, you were possibly trying to save the invitation file into an inaccessible location. For further troubleshooting, please let me know: 1. Have you tried other locations to save the file? 2. If you selected Use e-mail to send an invitation, will the problem still occur? Thanks for your patience and cooperation! Regards, Lionel Chen Microsoft Online Community Support

Thank you for your answer.Yes I tried different locations. Mail doesn't work either.I am logged in as an administror. As I described I also cannot open any existing invitation file. So there seems to be something wrong with the application. Everything else on my system works fine.Best RegardsRobert

Hello Lionel, performed a clean boot (no startups + no non-ms services) but still no change.I cannot open an existing invitation file nor can I create one. Tried 2 different locations + I am sure I have writing permissions there. (My own Desktop and a network share)RegardsRobert

Hello Robert, Based on such a situation, its possible that some system files are missing or corrupt. I recommend you to perform a startup repair to exclude this possible factor: Note: a. Please ensure that the DVD-ROM is the first booting device.b. Generally, startup repair wont cause data missing, but its recommended to backup important data before that, just in case. 1. Please insert the Windows Vista DVD and reboot the computer. 2. When we are prompted to press a key to boot from the DVD, please press Enter or the space bar. 3. Choose your language settings, and then click Next. 4. Click Repair your computer. 5. Select the operating system you want to repair, and then click Next. 6. On the System Recovery Options menu, click Startup Repair. Startup Repair might prompt you to make choices as it tries to fix the problem, and if necessary, it might restart your computer as it makes repairs. Let us know the result, if possible. Nice day!
